Introduction:


New Coventry is a planet that was settled by people from the starship Victory that came from an Alternate Earth United Kingdom (Possibly, the Rifts Earth that the Nations did not collapse when the Palladium press completes the book). The starship was doing space exploration and was caught in a Rift and was rifted to the location of New Coventry in the Phase World Universe. Being the crew was unable to find any reference to their home, the ship landed most of the 20,000 member crew on the planet and started the colony of New Coventry. Once the people were settled, they formed a government based on the government of England. In the early days, some cloning took place in order to increase the population and to protect from inbred flaws. They have inhabited the planet for 463 Earth Years. The Consortium of Civilized Worlds made contact with the planet 217 year ago and after twelve years was accepted as a member planet. Before making contact with the Consortium, New Coventry did not have FTL Travel.


When the war started between the CCW and the Kreeghor Empire, they found themselves very close to the Kreeghor space and were attacked many times by the Trans-Galactic Empire. Since peace between the CCW and the Kreeghor, New Coventry has serious problems with ships that while the Kreeghor claim are pirate ships but most of the Military Staff and many members of the government believe are in reality Kreeghor Naval vessels. The Leaders of New Coventry decided to support a large shipyard construction in order to built a larger fleet. Since then, they have been supporting much of their increased forces by the new construction and refitting of ships for other planets and small Star Nations.


The Star Nations flag is a dark blue background with a pictures of the exploration ship Victory and the British Jack in the position that the stars are in the United States flag.




Population:


The majority of the human population is Caucasian because the crew of the vessel for was from England which was country that the population was largely Caucasian. 8% of the crew was not Caucasian but for the most part, they have blended with the rest of the population over the centuries.

Economics & Demographics:


Agriculture: The planet has a large excess of agriculture because of their only moderate sized population. They export food to other planet including CCW worlds, independent worlds, and Kreeghor worlds but the cargo is passed through the space ports at Phase World when sold to the T.G.E. even though New Coventry is very close to the border.


Industry: Because the group that was marooned in New Coventry never lost inter-system space travel, they built most of their industry in orbit. Around 90% of industry is either in orbit or on the moons. Over the last 40 years, New Coventry has been greatly increasing their large orbital industries especially in the production of star ships. They now build and sell many types of starships including several military designs. These include Cutty Sark transports, Badger light fighters, and licenced design Spitfire Bombers. They also sell the Combat Environment Power Armor. In addition, they refit vessels for the Consortium Armed Forces and Human Alliance Navy.


Education: 99.5% of the population is literate. While University education is not free, lower classes get government assistance on their education that allows most people to be able to get an education if the wish to get one. About 85% of the planets population go for university education. The universities educational quality is good but not at the level of the top CCW university levels. The only exception is that the newly formed military schools are equal to the top CCW military schools.




Society of New Coventry:


New Coventry was settled by humans that were from the United Kingdom. As such, they have many of the values of the English from the time they came from. The society has no sexual bias and allows both male and females in all jobs in the society. Generally both the male and female of a couple will work and the society considers homemaking to be slightly disgraceful especially among higher income groups and nobility. People of the society tend to value honor more than the people of the United States do today.


Social Structure: The society is based in different layers of social structure but it is only marginally harder for people to change their social position then it is in the United States today because the educational system is easily accessible by all social classes. About 10% of the population are of what is considered to be lower classes. These are generally people of poor education and low skill jobs. While their lifestyle is slightly less then the average CCW citizen, it is still equal to twentieth century middle upper class. About 60% of the population is middle class and live slightly better than the average CCW citizen. Approximately 25% of the population is high middle class and they consist of businessmen, people with special skills such as doctors, and high income educational staff. The upper class is about 10% of the population and consists of high level company executives and owners of large companies. The nobility is about 5% of the population and while listed as a separate group, it in reality has member of all classes. Members of nobility of the lowest class survive simply on a tiny government stipend and some of the richest people of the planet are also members of nobility. Nobility is however the only closed class, the only way for a person to become a member of the noble classes is either to be born into it or by being granted a title by either the King or Queen. This is normal granted for a great deed and it is most common for military officers that have served in combat to get titles. Because of this, many of the poorest of the nobility looks down at the upper classes.


Dress: For work, people tend to dress in utilitarian jump suits. Casual and formal clothing tends to vary greatly and there is no social stigma against females wearing skirts. There is no social stigmas againmst not wearing skirts either. Two methods of dress are especially unusual when compared to some of the other planets in the CCW. First is that the people from the areas that Scottish members of the crew formed house holds still wear kilts. There is also an unusual fashion that many women wear, especially noble women, a style that is semi Victorian style with the plunge style wide collars.


Buildings: Administrative buildings tend to be reinforced towers though many administrative people work out of their homes. Lower income and middle income housing tends to be reinforced towers as well. While externally similar, the interior quality depends generally depends on the income of the person. High middle income people normally live in individual houses that are away from the large administrative center and fly to work each day. Old Earth Tudor style designs are very popular. High Income and Nobility normally live in estates and some are built to appear like Renaissance palaces and castles.


Religious Groups: The planet has no rules against religious groups but they will prosecute and stop religious members for doing illegal activities. This ranges from the demon worshiping cults that sacrifice people to a religion that members of their church will not bring children for medical treatment because of religious reasons. An interest item is that a large percentage of the population are practicing druids because several member of the crew were Druids and were very success at spreading their beliefs among the crew

Views on other races: The first ship they came into contact with was a Wolfen starship and they have found that they have many views in common with the Wolfen, especially about honor. New Coventry has separate treaties with several of the Wolfen planets. In general, the people of New Coventry have views on other races depends on their experiences. They have multiple Machine People refuges and have become valued members of society and the people of New Coventry have no problem with that race besides a few groups, mostly in the lower classes, that feel that Machine people have taken their jobs. There are strong feeling against the Kreeghor race and Silhouette races because the media has portrayed them as two of groups behind the attacks by raiders. While the planet does a lot of trading with the Naruni, due to Naruni policies they are very careful about their dealings and never purchase more then they can pay for at the time.


Dueling: The planet does have a dueling code and killing the other party in a duel is not considered a crime. Important note is that killing or injuring spectators is considered murder. Several factions in the CCW have strong disagreements with dueling but in a recent vote, 87% of the population was in favor of the code. New Coventry duels have strict rules. For gun duels, only non magical black powder single shot pistols can be used and only a single shot at 15 meters can be fired and the duel is declared finished. Sword duels must also be using standard swords and can be to first blood or to the death. In all cases, medical personnel must be present to try and save all involved when the duel is over along with a range master armed with a powerful hand weapon such as the Jackhammer Pistol or dueling master to control the duel. If a person breaks the rules of a duel such as turning and firing on the back of the other person, the range master will shoot the person breaking the rules.


Views on Magic & Psionics: They have no prejudice against either mages or psychics. All psychics are required to have training so that their talent are not a danger to themselves or others but other than that are left alone. There are also a moderate amount of mages on the planet (mostly from the Druids).




Laws of New Coventry:


The Laws of New Coventry are similar to most of the CCW but have moderately higher punishments for what are called violent felonies in the United States today and have more death sentences. It is not a crime for any person other than a convicted violent criminal to own ranged weapons and a large percentage of the population have them. There are also laws that prevent discrimination against people for race, sex, religion and sexual choice (While homosexuals comprise only about 2% to 3% of the population, the laws are designed to prevent discrimination against them).

Government of New Coventry


The planet is a constitutional monarchy. The planet has a hereditary King or Queen, a Prime Minister who is elected population, a House of Lords that are Hereditary, and a House of Commons that are elected by the population. While some members of the CCW council feel that the hereditary branches of the government should be removed, the government is more democratic than many of the democratic governments in the CCW.


King or Queen: The captain of the exploration ships, an Alfred Mayfair took command of the colony. He was a distant relation of the Tudor family and when the government of New Coventry was beginning to form, his daughter Elizabeth became the first queen. The powers of King or Queens are a combination of both ceremonial and real. They have the ability to propose bills to the Prime Minister who in turn can proposes them to the House of Commons. They also have the ability to pardon people (the Prime Minister cannot pardon), can veto bills, and can override Prime Minister vetoes. If they veto a bill, both of the houses must have a 80% majority in order to pass the bill. They rarely use these powers but normally act as ambassadors. The position of King or Queen is hereditary, being passed to the eldest child unless that child have some kind of deficiency or has been convicted of a crime.


Prime Minister: The Prime Minister is the person who along with their cabinet makes most of the day to day running of the planet and the star systems. Along with that, they have that ability to propose laws to the House of Commons and have the ability to veto bills. If they veto a bill and the king or queen does not get involved (which the King or Queen will almost never get involved), both of the houses need a 60% majority to pass a bill. Bills can also be passed without the House of Lords approval if both 60% of the House of Commons and the Prime Minister approve the bill. The Prime Minister is elected and cannot be a member of the House of Lords. A member of the House of Lords can resign from the house of Lords to try and become a Prime Minister but cannot then go back to being a member of the House of Lords. A Prime Minister is elected for 5 years but elections can be delayed with in an emergency with the approval of both Houses, the Prime Minister, and the King or Queen


House of Lords: On the Landing of most of the crews of the ship on the planet, most off the ships officers took jobs at overseeing various aspects of preparing the planet for them. A generation later, these positions were formalized into various titles and when the government was formed they took positions in the new government in the House of Lords. Because they were very powerful in the areas that they administrated their government powers were limited. New positions in the House of Lords can be formed by people getting titles from the King or Queen for acts of service to the people or the government. If a person chooses to leave the House of Lords to try and become the Prime Minister, wish to become a member of the Prime Ministers cabinet, or not be required to appear in government sessions, the Lord must pass the position to another member of the family and cannot hold position in the House of Lords again. At least 20% of the House of Lords must be in session in order to pass a bill and all members of the House of Lords must be in two sessions every two years unless they are in government or military service and that prevents them from returning for a session. Any bills that come from the House of Commons must be approved by the House of Lords unless the House of commons has a 60% majority (Needs Prime Minister approval as well). The House of Lord though is a good place for discussions of new laws and bills that do not involve as much politics in the discussion


House of Common: The House of Commons is where all bills are formed and passed. If a bill does not pass the House of Commons, it cannot become a law. Members of the house of commons are elected for 5 years but like the Prime minister, elections can be delayed for emergencies (follows the same rules as for the prime minister)

Relations with other Governments:


New Coventry is like Israel in the respect that since they are in a hostile location, they spy on everyone, either friend or enemy.


Consortium of Civilized Worlds: New Coventry is a member of the CCW and while they have many differences with the CCW government, there are no serious problems that would cause them to be expelled from the CCW. They have additional treaties with a few of the Wolfen planets.


Dartrok: New Coventry is concerned with the activities of the Dartrok but New Coventry is widely separate from Dartrok controlled space so they were far more concerned with the Kreeghor. Since the Dartrok have become allies with Xanadu Station, many leaders, both military and civilian, have become concerned about the Dartrok. This has created an attempt to find out more information about these creatures.


Free Worlds Council: While forced by the treaty the CCW signed with the TGE not to recognize the Free World Council, they give them aid through underground routes. They even sold the Free Worlds Council an escort carrier through several cutouts when they commissioned their new larger carriers.


Human Alliance: New Coventry is a member of the Human Alliance and has contracts to refit some of their vessels.


Naruni Enterprises: They purchase equipment from NE but are careful to never overspend.


Phase World: They use Phase World for some of their trade and many of both their civilian and military ships have phase gate devices on them. They have non aggression pacts with Phase World and some limited trade with the Prometheans.


Paradise Federation: New Coventry participates in the boycott of the Pleasure Federation along with the rest of the CCW. While this does not stop all New Coventry citizens from going there, most of the population respects the government boycott. Military members are prohibited from going to the Paradise Federation unless on military business and if found out, the person will get non judicial punishment or court marshal as appropriate for the person in question.


REF Wormhole Station: A group of REF ships was rifted to the Phase World Universe. The control a unusual spacial anomaly that allows virtually instantaneous space travel between the Corkscrew and the Anvil Galaxy. New Coventry has an alliance with the REF and uses the wormhole for some of their trading.


Splugorth: Because of attempted Splugorth raids on New Coventry when it was not as well defended, New Coventry ships will automatically engage armed Splugorth ship (if they can) and will seize merchant vessels withing New Coventry territory.


Trans-Galactic Empire: They have a very uneasy truce with the Trans-Galactic Empire. They know that the Kreeghor are simply waiting for an opportunity to attack the CCW and know that they very well may be in the middle of the situation. This means that they are preparing to defend themselves against the TGE.


United Worlds Warlock: They have a treaty for training their mages with the central government but their relations between planets very from very good to uneasy truce. Because of the unpredictability of the individual planets in the U.W.W., they are very careful when dealing with them.


Xanadu Station: Xanadu station is a government formed by a group of CAF fleet personnel and by people that were Rifted from Macross II universe. Xanadu Station gave New Coventry aid in ship construction and increasing development. They are full allies but senior member of the government and the military of New Coventry are concerned about the leader of the Stations not being able to do his job properly and intelligence information that the leader is having contact with supernatural intelligences and may even be a witch linked to a supernatural intelligence.




Military Forces of New Coventry:


Royal Space Navy of New Coventry:


New Coventry's space navy is far larger than most CCW independent fleets to the point that the CAF and the CCW government is nervous about the size of the fleet that New Coventry has built. While it has always been large for a single planet, the size of the space forces has been greatly increased over the last 20 years. The fleet is so large so they can protect themselves from Kreeghor Invasion because their strategists have indicated that the CAF would not be able to get enough forces into their area to stop a full Kreeghor invasion from taking or even destroying the planet. The fleet follows many of the same traditions that the British Navy did. The fleet has the ability to make Starfighter of all types and has a shipyard that has the ability to make large starships up to 450 meters long. They are presently working on building a shipyard to build smaller destroyer sized ships rapidly. About half of the fighter crews on ships, orbital bases, and the moons are Navy (The rest are marines). The plan is for New Coventry to eventually have a fleet of 4 carriers, 4 amphibious assault ships, 32 cruisers, and 120 destroyers but it will be several years until that projected goal can be realized.


Chain of Command: The head of the Military (all Branches) is the Lord of the Admiralty. Most of the Lords decisions are administrative in nature but sometimes will make military decisions. The Fleet Admiral makes most of the military decisions and admirals are in charge of large fleets and lower admirals and the commodores control smaller battle groups.


Enlistment: All navy enlisted members must enlist for a period of at least 6 Terran years. Enlisted may continue to reenlist unless due to problems of service (many disciplines problems for example). Officers serve until they resign their commission (and are approved), booted out due to administrative action or court marshal, or retire. Officers that make the rank of Captain and above must be court marshal to be kicked out of service but may still be put on half pay at needs of the service to get rid of them. New Coventry offers bonuses to ex-members of the C.A.F. with good records that join the New Coventry military.


O.C.C.:


Officers: Many of officers of New Coventry fleet are ex CAF fleet officers and as such are of the OCC CAF Fleet officer. Most of the other officers were either second line CAF officers and are considered CAF trooper or trained on the planet and are considered OCC spacers. Because of the vastly improved school, newly officers from New Coventry Naval Academy are equal to CAF fleet officers and some fighter pilots will become OCC: Turbo Jockeys.


Enlisted: Many of the enlisted of New Coventry Fleet are ex CAF enlisted and are as such are OCC CAF Trooper. Many of the rest are either trained at New Coventry or are recruited spacers and as such are normally OCC spacer. Since the schools have been vastly improved, new enlisted from New Coventry Naval Training Schools are equal to CAF troopers.


Standard Combat Equipment:


Crew members: 3 CAF Jumpsuits, HI-10 Heavy Laser Pistol or GR-45HP "Jackhammer" Heavy Pistol, Vibro Knife, HW-19 Stun Pistol or Web Gun. Whenever a Starship is at general quarters all crew member are in CAF jumpsuits to protect from explosive decompression, a suit is kept in the crew members work station, one is kept in their berthing area, and another is kept at their general quarters station. Silver rounds for GR-45HP and silver knives are kept in ships armory for use against supernatural being.


Pilots: CAF Battle armor, HI-80 combat Rifle or GR-15AR Assault Rifle, NE-4 Plasma Cartridge Pistol or GR-45HP "Jackhammer" Heavy Pistol, Vibro Claws or Vibro Sword, HW-19 Stun Pistol or Web Gun. They carry silver knives and silver rounds for rail guns if there is a possibility of having to deal with supernatural foes if shot down.

Officers: Officer work clothing consists of a dark blue jumpsuit with top of shoulder rank marking or CAF jumpsuits depending on the conditions that they are working on. The CAF jumpsuit is usually worn when hazardous conditions may develop. Headgear is either a ball cap or a beret. For officers dress uniforms, they wear a dark blue or light blue dress tunic and dress pants with top of the shoulder rank markings. Females may wear a collar similar to Victorian style and may also wear a skirt in place of dress pants. An officer from a Scottish area may also chose to wear a kilt in place of dress pants. A cloak and sword are also parts of the full dress uniform. Headgear for dress uniform is a combination cap.


Enlisted: Enlisted work clothing consists of a dark blue jumpsuit with rank markings on the upper arms or CAF jumpsuits depending on the conditions that they are working on. The CAF jumpsuit is usually worn when hazardous conditions may develop. Headgear is a ball cap. For their dress uniform they wear a dark jumper similar to what the British navy uses today (also similar to what the US navy uses) with the rank markings on the upper arms with dark blue dress pants. Females make wear a skirt instead of dress pants and a kilt may be worn by members of both sexes from Scottish areas. Headgear for the dress uniform is a hat similar to what you see in old pictures of sailors hats with the name of the ship around the rim of the hat.

Royal Army of New Coventry:


Forms the planets main defense forces and while the navy and the marines do more generally then the army, it is close to ten times larger then the other two services combined.. In times of war, the size of the Royal Army will normally greatly increases depending on the planets needs. All physically and mentally capable citizens of the planet that do not join one of the branches of service must have basic training in the Royal Army and are expected to act in the Militia in times of war. Due to budget constraints, the Militia is not armed but still go for retraining for two weeks every four years. The pilots assigned to the planet itself are army pilots. Units are organized by the area that they are from and there are exclusively Scottish units.

New Coventry offers bonuses to ex-members of the C.A.F. with good records that join the New Coventry military.

Most of the other enlisted are various other military and mercenary OCCs having been either trained on planet, being ex enlisted with other planets militaries, or ex mercenaries. With the Improvement of New Coventry Army Training Schools, new enlisted are considered to be CAF Troopers.

Royal Marine Corp of New Coventry:


Main ground assault arm of the New Coventry military and are used as their landing troops. They consider themselves to be the elite of the branches and the best trained for ground combat. They are under the command of the Navy for most operations. All marines are either power armor pilots or fighter pilots. New Coventry Royal Marine does not believe in having combat units in conventional body armor. About half of the fighter crews on ships, orbital bases, and the moons are Marines (The rest are Navy personnel).


Chain of Command: The head of the Military (all Branches) is the Lord of the Admiralty. Most of the Lords decisions are administrative in nature but sometimes will make military decisions. The Fleet Admiral makes most of the military decisions for the marine corps advised by the senior general of the Marines. The Marine units are under both marine and naval command at various levels. Marine medical for example is pulled from the Navy.


Enlistment: All Marine enlisted members must enlist for a period of at least 8 Terran years. Enlisted may continue to reenlist unless due to some problems of service (The Royal Marines are the strictest branch) and often marines that are not allowed to reenlist can then join the army although they will be closely watched. Officers serve until they resign their commission (and are approved), booted out due to administrative action or court marshal, or retire. Officer of the rank of Colonels and above must be court marshal to be kicked out of service but may still be put on half pay at needs of the service to remove if they are not equal to their position. New Coventry offers bonuses to ex-members of the C.A.F. with good records that join the New Coventry military.


O.C.C.:


Officers: Many of the officers of the New Coventry Marines are ex CAF officers with excellent records and are OCC CAF fleet officers. Most of the other officers are trained at New Coventry and are considered Special Forces OCC from mercenaries. They also have the option to trade three skills for Hand to Hand Commando. New Marines also go to the New Coventry Naval Academy and new marine officers are considered to be CAF fleet officers with some fighter pilots becoming OCC: Turbo Jockeys. A Fleet Officer OCC can get Hand to Hand Commando for three skills and Turbo Jockeys can get Hand to Hand Commando for four skill selections.


Enlisted: Many of the enlisted of the New Coventry Marines are ex CAF officers and are OCC CAF trooper. Most of the other enlisted were trained on the planet and are considered Special Forces OCC from mercenaries. Because marine enlisted schools were already excellent, the marine enlisted schools was not improved. Enlisted members the option to trade three skills for Hand to Hand Commando.


Standard Combat Equipment:


Power Armor Troopers: Combat Environment Power Armor ( Some use K-Universal Power Armor until they have been replaced by the new power armors) with a few special units using Silver Hawk Power Armors, HI-80 combat Rifle or GR-15AR Assault Rifle, NE-4 Plasma Cartridge Pistol or GR-45HP "Jackhammer" Heavy Pistol, Vibro Claws or Vibro Sword, Silver Knife, HW-19 Stun Pistol or Web Gun. One out of ten troops is fitted with a HI-300 Infantry Support Laser. They carry silver knives and silver rounds for rail guns if there is a possibility of having to deal with supernatural foes.

Females may wear a skirt in place of dress pants and an officer from a Scottish area may also chose to wear a kilt instead of dress pants. A cloak and sword are also parts of the full dress uniform. Headgear for dress uniform is a combination cap

Military rules & regulation:


Military rules of conduct are similar to most modern militaries; However, sexual contact between personnel is only forbidden between officers in the same chain of command and between officers and enlisted and unlike the United States military they are not concerned with sexual preference. The only reason that they worry about certain types of sexual contact is because these relationships can interfere with duties and the chain of command. If a person who commits a crime is in the service they are subject to civilian, military, or both for legal actions. Court Marshals cover serious crimes and often will give much harsher sentences than civilian courts. Unlike a court, a court marshal consists of 5 officers or for enlisted the accused choice of 5 officers or 5 senior enlisted and the court marshal needs only a majority rule. Officers always get court marshals and cannot get non judicial punishment. Breaking of less serious laws and breaking military rules for enlisted will usually get non judicial punishment which is punishment by the commanding officer of your unit.


Military Protocol: Officers in New Coventry are addresses as sir or ma'am depending of the sex of the officer. Officers that are nobility are also addressed by noble title and by Milord or Milady. The addressing of officers is treated with a large amount of leeway due to the fact that in the CAF, officers are always addressed as Sir regardless of the sex of the officer.


Prize Money: The officers and crew of ships get prize money based on anything they capture. This includes from Smugglers, Pirates, and enemy ships captured.


Personal Equipment: New Coventry personnel can use whatever other equipment they have purchased or captured as long as it is not dangerous to the ships or crews. Magical Weapons are popular with many senior officers.


Mage & Psionics in the Military:


New Coventry allows both mages and psychics in the military. New Coventry has a treaty with United Worlds Warlock that New Coventry potential mages in the Military will be trained by the U.W.W. military academies. After graduating, the mages are considered to be Battle Mages from Rifts: Manhunter. Battle Mages (change skills that do not fit PW) and are assigned into the Royal Marines as junior officers.


Planetary Surface Defense:


All major cities and military installations (500 total on New Coventry and 1 on Sebastian) have 10 long range missile launchers [launch 32 missile each per attack] and 20 medium range missile launchers [launches 16 missile per launcher attack] to stop missile attacks on cities. The locations also have 50 laser cannons [10 mile range in an atmosphere, 4D4x10 M.D.C.], 50 gravity rail guns [16 mile range in an atmosphere, 4D6x10], and 25 Tachyon Scatter Beams [Cone 6.2 miles long and 0.75 miles wide in an atmosphere 2D4x10 M.D.C., 4 attacks] for point defense. Each location also has 50 star fighters assigned to it as well. The crew of each station is 1000 including fighter pilots.


Fortifications on Moons:


These are the five moons around New Coventry. Each moon has a diameter of 20 to 100 miles wide. Approximately one third of all weapons can fire on a target and because the moons do not have a controlled spin like a starship or a planetary defense platform, they cannot bring all weapons to bear. Each moon is only lightly armed and is designed to augment the defense platforms Mounted on each moon are 3 cruise missile launcher [32 missiles per melee per launcher] but only 1 per side, 6 long range missile launchers [32 missiles per attack per launcher] but only 2 per side, 12 medium range missile launchers [launches 16 missiles per launcher per attack] but only 4 per side, 3 super heavy lasers [1D4x1000 M.D.C., 2 attacks per melee, 100,000 mile range in space] but only 1 per side, 6 heavy lasers [2D6x100 M.D.C., 2 attacks per melee, 10,000 mile range in space] but only 2 per side, 48 laser cannons [1000 mile range in space, 4D4x10 M.D.C.] but only 16 per side, 48 gravity rail guns [1600 mile range in a space, 4D6x10] but only 16 per side, and 24 tachyon scatter beams [99.4 miles with a width of 12.4 miles, 2D4x10, 4 attacks per melee] but only 8 per side. Each moon also has 200 star fighters assigned to it as well. Each has about 500 Naval personnel and 500 marines in addition to pilots


Minefields:


During times of Peace, New Coventry does not have any minefields but during times of hostilities, they plan keep minefields around important fortifications and around the planet. While this may create problems for merchant trade but it is considered acceptable.

Notes on the Fleet:


All fleet combatant ships with the exceptions of the Invincible class light fleet carriers and the Sir Percival Landing Attack Carriers carry full loads of Pepper Box cruise missile launchers to add to their missile strength. These are most often loaded with X-Ray laser warhead cruise missiles. The carrier class initially did not carry Pepper Box launchers but now they carry two which are loaded with decoy type cruise missiles. This is a weapon system that attached to the hull of the ship and detached just before they are uses. They are cruise missile launchers that increase the firepower of the ship they are fitted to. Look at pepper box missile launchers for more details. Most Heavy Cruisers carry sixteen, Light Cruisers carry twelve, and Frigates carry four.


Military Technology:


New Coventry military technology is on par with top end Consortium Technology in most cases but until they received technological assistance from the Human Alliance, their faster than light drives were limited to around 5 light years per hour. New Coventry does not have the high end battle link computers carried on Consortium Battleship and does not have GRASER (Gamma Radiation LASER) technology. New Coventry did not get their X- Ray laser missile technology from the Consortium but instead got it from a captured Kreeghor Beserker class attack vessel. All New Coventry vessels that carry cruise missiles carry X-Ray laser warheads as the majority of their payload. Even though they have anti-matter warhead technology, New Coventry vessels almost never carry anti-matter warheads. This is because they are considered a safety hazard that can easily destroy a vessel and a magazine hit in combat will often destroy a vessel carrying anti-matter warheads.


Alien Starship:


Then Lieutenant Commander Terry Cindy Mayfair, the commanding officer of HMS Wolfhound, was able to capture an alien starship of crystalline design. New Coventry was able to get the ship repaired. Due to the fact that ship requires a huge crew (10,000 + crew members) that would be better used in other ships and stations, they decided not to put the ship in commission. The leaders of the Fleet and Government also realized that other groups would attempt to get the ship if they could. For this reason, they decided to hide the ship inside a hole that the created inside of Icarus, the closed planet to the star, with minimal personnel involved. The crew of the HMS Wolfhound did most of the work in transporting.




New Coventry System:


Number of moons are listed for planets, but unless important, they are not named or have long descriptions. System consists of one yellow dwarf main sequence star, one brown dwarf failed star, one large gas giant, two medium gas giants, four small gas giants, one terran planet, one semi terran planet, two rock balls planets, two asteroid belts, and a large number of moons of varying sizes including one moon the is Terraformable. Moon names use the first letter of the planet that they are named after for the first letter of their name.
