Tyrie Argette
Background:
Changelings are persecuted in most parts of the Megaverse including many parts of the Three Galaxies. For this reason, Changelings for a long time have looked for a home planet in which they could live in peace and safety. They finally found an uninhabited planet near the United Worlds Warlock and they thought that this planet was perfect. It was in the Janus 122 system and the planet was named Calitran after a famous changeling hero. The planet was relatively mineral poor and was not likely that other governments would be interested in them.
A Changeling by the name of Trinston Argette formed a monarchy and ruled as King until his child, who also took a male role, ruled as king as well. Over time, Changelings from all over the Megaverse started emigrating to this planet and there was over a hundred years of peace. The population grew steadily until there were over five hundred million which included a number of Pleasurers who were also considered Changelings.
Tyrie was the oldest of three children of the King of Calitran and was going to be the heir when she grew old enough. To make it easier to blend in with other societies, most Changelings chose a basic persona with Tyrie choosing to be basically female. She was only around five when her world changed.
A neighboring planet discovered that the planet was in reality populated by Changelings and effectively a witch hunt ensued. It was not a war of conquest but a war of extermination. The defenses of Calitran initially did quite well due to a high percentage of Mages and Psychics but it was ultimately a losing battle for the Chnagelings. The other power simply had a much larger population and a much more powerful military. The military had originally be built for wars of conquest.
The Consortium of Civilized Worlds was too far away to help and likely would not have helped in any case. . The young king attempted to get help from both the United Worlds Warlock but they claimed to have more pressing concerns. Even the Cosmic Force refused to help them with Cosmic Knights seeming to be apathetic towards their plight. The planet simply did not have the resources to hire any large number of Mercenanies so they took the only option they had. They ended up purchasing weapons from Naruni Industries to be able to fight off their enemy. After a few years they were able to drive off their enemies but were deep in debt to Naruni by this time with no means to pay for the hardware they had purchased.
As with most planets which get into debt with the Naruni, the Mega-Corporation took control of the planet. Massive numbers of Naruni troops seized the planet and there was little which could be done to stop them. Naruni auditors came soon after the assault waves and began looking for what there was of value. Of course, every bit of precious metal and gems in the planets treasury was seized but there was little of that. The planet was not particularly rich in minerals and there was little heavy industry. The planet was self sufficient as far as food but there was little to export.
That left slavery. There was a request through black market circles for a large number of young Changeling so most children were taken in order to pay the debt. Hundreds of thousands of children were taken with the children of the King being among the first seized. Tyrie was the eldest child of the royal couple but since the child was very young at the time, the changeling child retained few actual memories. The children were first brought through the Pleasure Worlds where they were sold at auction. As a result, the Changelings ended up all the Three Galaxies.
The leader of Kreeghor Intelligence wanted a special batch of Changelings for espionage and spying missions all over the Three Galaxies. As a result, they bought a large number of Changelings through a set of middlemen and made the shipment of slaves appear to simply disappear. They wound up in a special training school set of for Changelings in the Trans-Galactic Empire. The training stressed loyalty and had to be considered brainwashing. This was why the children were chosen so young. Changeling are among the strongest willed beings in the Mega-Verse. Tyrie herself was brainwashed and became extremely loyal to the Empire. The Changeling's background was completely kept from her.
During the training to before a security agent, it was discovered that she had the potential to become a powerful psychic. If her background had been known, it would have been no real surprise. Both had been mind mages in their own rights. The Empire trained her in the use of her psychic abilities and taught her how to combine them with her espionage skills. This included the ability to persuade people with her mind to trust her and to enter another mind and find out what they were thinking.
For several years, Tyrie served as a loyal intelligence agent for the Empire. She served in several deep missions against various enemies. This included both the Consortium of Civilized Worlds and the Free Worlds Council. She was assigned to one of the Q-Ships operated by the Kreeghor Empire where her skills were used to infiltrate groups they dealt with. She also was expected to operate as the Empire's eyes on the ship and report any disloyalty. This included both the enlisted and the officers onboard. The Q-Ship had a few Kreeghor, including the captain, although the majority of the crew were of other races. The Captain was actually an extremely skilled officer.
It all changed when she was asked to investigate a Kreeghor Warlord who was suspected of disloyalty. One of her first steps was to attempt to hack into his computer files. Then she discovered the secret that had been hidden from her for many years. In hacking into a Warlords records, Tyrie found about the acquiring of Changelings by the Empire's Intelligence organizations. The Warlord had been collecting all the dirt he could on the government so that when he pushed for his own takeover, he would know who to watch for. She had been doing a search for information on Changelings and it is unlikely that the Warlord or his staff knew much about the data which they had collected. She reported the plans of the Warlord although kept that she had discovered her origin from her reports and erased his files on the subject. The Kreeghor Warlord died slowly but the seeds of doubt had been planted in her.
Over the next year, her secret disloyalty grew. She traced her history back to having been kidnaped by the Naruni and having been sold to the Kreeghor. Along with this, Tyrie discovered a lot about the Trans-Galactic Empire itself. Secrets which she had not known and their conquests of everyone around them. She discovered that there was nothing which she could be loyal about. She considered working from within but was bot sure how long she could keep up the charade. She had a lot of valuable intelligence which she could both use against the Empire and use to make a tidy profit.
She stole a small ship and escaped with a group of soldiers captured from the planets under the control of the Free Worlds Council. It was the Free Worlds Council which she took her first job outside the Empire. She was able to take down several important Trans-Galactic Empire cells and enlighten the leaders of the Council on many of the procedures the Empire used against them.
Eventually, the situation got too hot. The Kreeghor Empire found out about her and decided to see about eliminating her. It was time to leave and she began to head for center. She did not go by any direct route and changed her appearance about a dozen times along the way. She has so far been able to stay ahead of the Empire Intelligence Services.
At first she sold her intelligence to interesting parties. This included New Coventry and Xanadu Station among others. When her intelligence started getting old, she started working on individual missions. This has enabled her to hone her skills even more. She would use a different appearance with very group she dealt with so they cannot trace her. Still, she has grown attached to her "Tanisha Falcon" form.
One of her biggest misadventures was working with a Cosmic Knight who in retrospect she realizes was pretty insane. He suggested actions which would have resulted in the death of huge numbers of innocents and she simply could not support his actions. Her act of quitting was slamming the side of his face with her laptop. Since then, she has worked on odd jobs including running weaponry for the Free Worlds Council.
